And I thought XP would solve my computer Woes... I have had XP in my puter now for about 4 months and the last time this happened I needed to format->reinstall. I get the now famous "windows\system32\config\system" error and after reading Q307545 I thought I had the answer. But now, after going through the steps and getting nowhere, I tried to nose around a little on my own. When I Cd'd my way over to ...Config\system and tried to delete it manually it said to me "An error occured during directory enumeration". It won't even allow me to "dir". I have a feeling that my NTFS is corrupt or perhaps I have bad sectors, but my HD(Maxtor 40GB) is only about 6 months old. I would greatly appriciate any suggestions other than "just type "r" in setup" It doesn't work at all this time. And since I have already gone through the knowledge base I don't know what else I can do. I may just have to f/r again :(

I don't have the answer but I have the same exact problem. My computer is only 3 weeks old. It happened after one week and I reformatted HD and now it happened again. I waould like to know if there is any other solution than reformatting HD. I have a 80 GB Western Digital 7200 RPM with 8MB cache
