For some reason today I got this message today while attempting to delete some images created by my webcam 'error deleting file or folder, cannot delete ..........:the directory or file cannot be created.' then there is an ok button. First time I have had this happen. By the way this machine has a new install(3weeks?) of windows and is not net connected.

What is the folder name? Can you delete in Safe Mode or using Command Prompt?

Maybe some help from MoveOnBoot would help?

Install Eraser 5.86a (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=37015&package_id=65323&release_id=567184)

or http://tinyurl.com/35hvmd

Install Eraser and using Right-Context Menu Delete file or folder. During Boot-Up process it will erase the file/folder to unretrievable state.

BE CAREFUL! YOU CANNOT RETRIEVE A FOLDER ONCE YOU DELETE. ALMOST PERMANENT DELETION.

The images are not in a folder. They are on the secondary hard drive. How do I get into safe mode with winxp. I am not used to xp yet. I went straight from win98se to xp but my main box is linux(net connected). I don't know how to use the command prompt in windows.

OK will try some of those programs! Thanks!

Wow that eraser program is good. It can be selected via the file menu in explorer after selecting all the files to be erased. Fabulous. Thanks so much! I have never seen this problem before. Is it just a windowsxp thing?
