Make sure you are using the most up to date drivers for your graphics card and modem. It seems it may also be caused by Black Ice Defender.

That happened to me with my brand new Dell Dimension 4300 several times.

I sent in the first few error messages, as my screen prompts suggested, to Dell Support, logging them with my system's Service Tag Number.

The Dell Knowledge Base itself recommends, oddly enough, turning off the "serious error" notification portion of the glitch while maintaining the error log on your machine, providing the errors themselves continue. In my case, the errors ceased.

Dell did get back to me, at any rate, with that very recommendation, but never did explain what might be causing the error in the first place.

It tells you why it does that, and how to remove the message. Look at the followup piece, too!! Hope it works!!

Pagefile was corrupted when problem(critical/fatal error) occured.

- delete minidump files, C:\WinNT\minidump\*.dmp

- note existing pagefile sizes, initial & max

- set pagefile to zero, actually setting is "no page file"

- reboot, hey waddya know, no error

- set pagefile size back to earlier setting

- reboot again

I'm getting this same exact error on my system everytime I boot up. I tried the pagefile fix, and deleted the minidump files, shut off sys recovery, rebooted....error still keeps coming back. Driving me nuts!!!

specs
P4 1.8 Ghz
512 M DDR Ram
Nvidia Geforce2 Ti 64 DDR
Sound Blaster Live

The PC is operating fine once bootup gets past the "serious error'' box.

Response #5 worked for me, also. After a full week of trying various methods to remove the boot up error message, using the instructions from Herb has done the trick

Tried #5 it works...but only when there is no pagefile setting.

When I reset my pagefile...off we go again witht the error.

Any suggestions?
What is Pagefile settings? do I need it on?

Well can't you see it managed to recover from a serious error. Turning off error reporting just makes the problem hide, not go away. This problem mainly arises from dodgy leaked or non-certified graphics card or modem drivers. Sometimes even if you have installed them from windows update.
