Hi
i'm trying to install windows XP professional here.
So the setup begins loading files and looks ok until it loads
boot disk #3. Then I get this message:File \halacpi.dll could not be loaded
The error code is 7.
Setup cannot continue.
Press any key to exit.If I go into my BIOS and disable ACPI, I still get similar
message.Machine specs (Thought it might help you help me..???):
BIOS Award Modular (09/29/00)
Abit SA6/SA6R/SH6 motherboard.I have tried disabling everything on the power
management page in the bios and still get the error. Is there
something I'm missing in setting the bios?THis is driving me crazy...I can't believe I'm having trouble installing Windows XP Pro...I've done this many times and never had this problem...?!?!?!?!

try the custom xp install disk from
www.bootdisk.com
or use madboot disk
either of these only require one disk to boot from, and install xp.

Thanks for the info Hooner and ok...:)
I tried the solution proposed in the article Hooner....BUT....
Now I get the following message...:
File \setupreg.hivcould not be loaded
The error code is 1024.
Setup cannot continue.
Press any key to exit.Any more ideas...?...I can't believe this, I wonder what is creating such difficulties at installing an OS like Windows XP...?!?!?

I just tried to use madboot disk and it starts booting up to the madboot disk screen and it's been sitting there for like 20 minutes..?!?!?
Am I doing something wrong..?
I'm really starting to think that there is something wrong with my pc...:(

with the custom xp install disk from bootdisk.com it will give your cd-rom a drive letter of r: (i think it will tell you)
at a: type cd-rom drive letter: press enter,
then type cd\i386 press enter,
then type winnt.exe and press enter,xp should now start installing.
doubleclick the xpboot.exe that you download,
and it will self extract to 1 floppy.
