ERROR at Welcome Screen HELP!!!!
Name: KWOTE Date: May 14, 2004 at 16:16:38 Pacific OS: Windows XP CPU/Ram: 1.7ghz/
Comment:
Grey box without text in it, only shows YES or NO with a big red X at the WELCOME Screen during the boot up process. It doesn't matter what you choose it will automatically log you off of your USER account. Then bring you back to the Welcome Screen. How do I get around this error, I am a writer and I desperately need my computer. HELP PLEASE!!

do you mean that when you log onto a screen name, the pop-up will occur and log you off? If so, I recommend going to safemode, then, in 'run', type msconfig. In msconfig, select diagnostic bootup and restart. post whether it works or not.

First try F8 at startup , and select Last Known Good Configuration. It may be a virus ...press F8 during starup, select Safe Mode. Use msconfig to search for the offending program in the Startup Tab and uncheck it. Restart, update your AV program and run a full scan.

I am not able to log onto a screename whatsoever. This error box is preventing me from moving forward.
I tried the F8 at Startup and selected the Last Known Good Configuration (several times) but it denied that.
I am in Safe Mode right now, I ran the scandisk feature, I also ran AD-Aware and it found a Wild Tangent spyware, so I deleted that from existence.

I'm on my last straw here!!! What should I do? I've tried a number of steps in order to get around this issue but nothing seems to work. Luckily, my friend has a laptop that I can access right now.
