Comment:

When a "GUEST" logs onto my computer, an "ERROR: Access is denied" box pops up. It takes three clicks to close this error box and then everything else loads up.

My question is... What is this error box referring to? How do I correct things so that this won't continually show up when the Guest Logon is used. Right now, it's an annoyance.....and I don't want to just ignore it, should it be a sign of something else to come.

Thanks so much for you help.

How
to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP

To help troubleshoot error messages or other
issues when you cannot determine the cause of
the issue, disable common startup programs,
settings, and drivers to eliminate possible
software conflicts when you start Microsoft
Windows XP. This procedure is known as
"clean booting."

How to perform advanced clean-boot troubleshooting in Windows XP
and that one is a heavy duty article.

See if the above helps.
Report back, so others may help if the cause is not found.

I can't say I would do a reinstall for that.

What I think is going on is that some other program that requires more permissions is trying to start but since you are on a guest account it squaks.

Open taskmanager and see what is running and backtrack it. Some things like Nero have programs to allow guests to use. Otherwise just leave or make a limited user account but it still might not like it.

Anyway it would be best to only use guest for 90% of the time. That way you can be sure things are not able to be run in Administrator rights.
