I tried switching from Netscape to Thunderbird & Firefoz. Ever since - I get the "Error 800 - Unable to establish VPN connection" message. I am with Verizon DSL - using the Westell 327W router. - Is there a simple fix for a novice???

Thanks in advance!

Steve

So, you're using Firefox as your browser and Thunderbird for email? What are you doing when you receive the error? Browsing or sending/receiving email? What ISP/Email provider are you using? What is the exact error message?

Not sure what type of connection you have home computer/LAN, etc, but did you Google the error:

Hi,

(1) I cannot access either Firefox or Thunderbird at all anymore - it was hit & miss before that - sometimes getting the error message - and after rebooting - they would work. I am accessing internet via Netscape 7.2 (my old browser).
(2)Whenever I try to use either FF or TB - I get the following message:
Error 800: Unable to establish VPN connection. The VPN server may be unreachable or security parameters may not be configured properly for this connection.
(3) The Google results seem to point to a firwall problem. - I do not know how to access ports (ex: the suggestion for opening TCP Port 1723, IP Protocol 47 GRE). Nor the VPN host networking settings - nor what to do if I could.
(4)There are 2 firewalls - windows and Norton - Netscape browser still works - but FF and TB give me the message when trying to access.

Did you review the link I provided? Have you set a proxy in your browser? What type of connection do you have?
