error 53 when using net view

In my test lab, I setup one XP pro as server connecting to the Internet through a router. Both XP and win98 can ping the server by ip and name (xpserver.domain.com) from outside. When using net view \\ip win98 will receive "error 53: the computer name specified in the network path cannot be located." XP doesn't get this error. Why and how to fix it?
