Error 1628: Failed to complete Inst

I am desparate to solve ths one. At the very end of the installation of Partition Magic, and many other programs that use the Install Shield, I receive this: "Error 1628: Failed to complete installation."
I have tried all sorts of things. Updating Install Shield, clearing all temp files, checking permissions, but nothing has worked.
Has anyone found a solution to this yet? I suspect this one is going to take a while as I have tried a lot of recommendations and all have failed so far.

Did you try to launch the setup in verbose mode so you can troubleshoot the issue ?
1628 Failed to complete script-based install. Launch Setup.exe with the /verbose command-line argument for detailed information.

I tried with /verbose switch and nothing happened. Should I be seeing something or is a log file created somewhere?

I looked up the command line switch and its syntax. I;ll let you know if I find something. I would still appreciate any suggestions in the meantime.

The last lines of the verbose file read:
1: Creating uninstallation information... 1: Failed to create uninstallation information, error is 0x80070002 === Verbose logging stopped: 4/18/2004 13:03:26 ===
can't figure out what is causing this. I tried reinstalling IScript ...nothing. This problem sucks. It is not PMagic's fault either (I think). Other installations do this as well ... anything that uses Install Shield is a hit or miss situation right now.
