Comment:

My mouse pointer suddenly became very erratic. It jumps around and its difficult to point it at any particular spot. I ran Spybot, Superantispyware and Add-Aware without any success. Any suggestions?

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

If it is a ball type mouse, try cleaning it. Sometimes little particles of dust gets around the ball preventing contact.

Try a different mouse also because the cord (tail) may have a split thus causing the PS/2 controller to misinterpret commands due to the intermittent connection.

If it is corded, it is common for wires to get broken inside the cable, usually right where it enters the mouse. If the wire's insulation is still intact and if the broken wire ends are touching, it will have an erratic connection. Try another mouse

If it's an optical mouse, make sure you're not using a shiny mousepad. Matte works best.

Thanx all of you. Since I resstarted my computer the problem has not emerged again. Touch wood.
