Erratic mouse movement

Hi, I am coming across many issue in this. The pointer of the mouse slides to one side of the monitor or slides to the bottom.
I have checked the mouse settings. Re-installed drivers, flashed the BIOS. Nothing works.

This behaviour is usually found in Laptops with a 'joystick style mouse.
As you haven't given us a clue as to what hadware you are referring to then any answers are going to be as relevant.

Don't worry about the hardware specs' what you have is fairly common in both Me and XP. It also has to do with the signals generated by the wheel which causes problems. Live with it, it's not serious!
