Hi,
I have tried erasing a DVD+R DL disc with Nero 7 and it wont work! Is there any other way of erasing the disc in windows or with Nero? I think Nero 7 might not support DVD+R DL yet, which is a worry since its one of the leading burning programs!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is it R or Rw because if it's R then you can't erase it

Hi,
dual-layer info:
DVD+R DL discs are currently the only discs available for dual-layer writing. DVD+R DL discs are not rewriteable (cannot erase and rewrite to them).

Well the cover of the DVD+R DL has a RW logo in the bottom corner which would suggest that the media can be erased! Any ideas why that would be?

Sony and memorex does that alot and I'm not sure why. Go with what it says on the cover. If it says Dvd+r or Dvd-r then you can only write to it once and you can't erase. The "RW" usually says something under it in small writing like "Dvd+r" but it depends on the maker. But the DVD+R on the cover says it all. Its write once. Hope this helps

mountnco,
I am sorry but your post lacks enough information to give a solution.

1) need to identify type of media. Here is a small program that will do this
Media identifier

2) Nero will not erase it. What exactly does it do or not do? Does it give any error, does display some type of message? What is the response in Nero?

3) What type of burner are you using?
What is the make and model number of the unit?

4) Is this a new problem or has never worked?

5) Have you checked you hard manager to determine if their is any problem with the unit?

This is really the type of information need to solve a technical issue.

I wasn't aware that RW (re-writable) media in dual layer format is even available yet. But I'm not the best to know this for certain...

Thanks for the help and the website 'BOBHOME' gave me was great! I now know the exact difference between all the different formats of DVD's!
But it really annoying that the RW logo is on the case as it leads you to believe that the disc is rewriteable!
