I have problem installing my Epson TM-T88IV printer. The Epson APD installation worked well and I got an icon in Printers and Faxes. The problem is that the status is "Not Available".
And when restart computer its printing Question(?) marks continuously until we make off the printer.I am using printer parallel port on LPT1. What went wrong..........?

Make sure that the print spooler service has started. Start, run, services.msc

Stop and start it again.

And make sure that the firewall isn't blocking it.

Parallel ports have more than one setting. You may need to set the port in the BIOS setting to whatever the Epson printer uses. That should be spelled out in the manual.

Might also be that the parallel port is not Enabled in the BIOS at all.

Are you using a new cable or a recycled one? What mode are you trying in the BIOS settings?

As I stated in my first response you need to find out from the manual which setting is to be used.

Even though the cable is new it still could be the wrong cable. Look at the numbers imprinted in the cable and verify in the manual you have the correct cable type.

The message you receive indicates to me that the printer is installed correctly but has no connection.

Have you looked in Device Manager to see how the parallel port is showing there?

Have you installed the software that is needed to use the printer?

Did you check Device Manager? If in fact the manual doesn't address the port settings or cable type you might contact epson.

Are you using a standard computer or a Point of sale machine?

Below is from the link that guapo provided.

"10. Why is my printer not printing in parallel mode?

Answer: When installing a TM printer with a parallel interface, if the printer prints garbage, stops printing in the middle of the print job or doesn't print at all, try changing the parallel port mode in the computers BIOS from ECP to Standard or Standard Bi-Directional.
