I have just purchased a new printer today an Epson Stylus C82, I don’t know if any one else has come across this, but every time I turn the printer on and of it makes the noise like I have put the USB cable in. Is this normal and if possible can I change the sound that it makes, because it always makes me jump.

hi, i have a canon bjc200 printer and it is powered off its own power cable and every time i plug it in and power it up it makes a god awfull noise too, i think its because the ink cartridge needs to move to a certain part of the printer in order for the ink to heat up before use. i think this is default and you wont be able to get rid of this, i hope this helps. regards

I don’t mean when it is worming up, I mean it makes the noise like I have reinserted the USB cable in, when I turn it on and off. Like a door bell sound.

Hi Matthew.
Is it possible that a sound has been assigned to turning on or off the printer?
This site has instructions for changing the sounds that are assigned to system events.
