I have an Epson Stylus cx5200 and it came with Epson's Smart Panel. I had smart panel installed at one point and for some reason, smart panel didnt work anymore.

Well I didnt put too much thought into what had happened and this was awhile ago but you see, now i couldnt uninstall it. So I tried reinstalling but w/ no luck; it came up with an error. So I dug though folders and finally found one related to this epson so i deleted it. This let me uninstall it but now the problem is reinstalling.

So I try reinstalling and it's at epsons main screen where you can choose what you want to install (ie: driver, smart panel). So I choose smart panel and it lauches the InstallSheild wizard. So I accept the license and it opens the actual installation and then it sits on 0%. The cd eventually stops spinning and no activity happens. I then go to the task manager to close it and after it closes it says something like. "An error occured while launching the setup. The remote procedure call failed." Any ideas how I can fix this mess? Any help or ideas whatsoever are appreciated.

I Have a less that savory solution that is a guaranteed fix for you. Backup all your files to a cd(if you have a burner). Make sure your virus defs. are up to date. If you need an antivirus program you can pick one up for free(its freeware) at majorgeeks.com. Its called AVG and requires a download. Scan your back up files with the latest defs. F-disk and reformat OR use your recovery cd's. Re-install windows. Next, before you install anything else, install norton system works wich has "clean sweep" included. Once clean sweep is installed any program you install from that point clean sweep keeps track of. If at any time you wish to uninstall a program you have loaded do it through clean sweep and it will remove ALL files associated with the program (including hidden dll.s and files that go into shared program folders). This will ensure that you will never corrupt your system due to personally deleting the wrong files. If you buy the latest Norton System Works at the store it will cost you arround $59.00. There are places online that are offering 2002 for $29.00. I assume that that includes free updates for one year. The down side is you would have to order it and not recieve it for 2 weeks.
Hope it helps

Hey thanks for the responce. Thing is, I have Norton's Systemworks 2003 and soon to buy 2004. But when I installed 2003, I dont think I did the full install which didnt install what I needed to do this. But I will try to do somethign about it and I'll remember to use it next time. I was kicking myself for not being so careful after I realized it wasn't installed and working. Thanks again for the reply.
