Hey everyone. I am trying to install an Epson C62 on a USB wire, but whenever I try to install it says “RPC Server Unavailable,” and when I try to go and “Add a Printer” it says that the operation can’t be completed. I tried asking Epson’s support and they gave me some tips and suggestions which I tried (basically just unplugging the printer and starting from scratch in terms of installation) but that didn’t work so they told me to ask Microsoft, but they don't have free tech support. I read some old posts about this problem and I tried following those tips as well (setting the Spooler to Automatic, and making sure that both RPC Servers (regular and Locator) were running) but I still get the same error. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've heard rumors that it might because of corrupted spoolss.dll or spoolss.exe files. I don't even HAVE the spoolss.exe file...

Operation could not be completed. The RPC server is unavailable.
when attempting to add a printer, it could be that Spoolss.dll and/or Spoolss.exe are missing or damaged.
Re-apply your latest service pack and insure that the RPC service is set to start automatically:
1. Control Panel / Services / Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service / Startup / Automatic.
2. Restart your computer.
NOTE: Make sure that the Spooler service is set to a Automatic and is starting.

I tried all of those things already... the only thing I can't find is a copy of spoolss.exe. Does anyone know where I could download it? It doesn't install in the service pack for some reason.

All to say that my XP Home has a spoolss.dll file in the System32 folder, but no spoolss.exe file.
Someone has said here that you can download DLL files at:
http://www.dll-file.com/
That site says USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
