out of nowhere, no command-line commands work anymore. i used to be able to go to start, run, type 'cmd' and ping something. now when i try a command like 'ping' i get the following response...
'ping' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
...so i checked my path, and it is as follows...
PATH=%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\PROGRA~1\ULTRAE~1;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG
everything seems to be intact. when i cd into system32 i can run ping and other commands just fine. any idea whats going on here?

It depends on WHERE you checked the path. It is very likely that you have it set, but not in the right place.
They should be set from System Properties / Advanced / Environment Variables.
It may also be possible that the registry entry is damaged, or contains a confusing character. You might try re-typing them.
