and how can i stop it, i know you can do it by registry but i donno how...

2- ive uninstalled the old version of msn (4.7 i think) but when i look in taskmanager (ctrl+alt+delete) it shows msmsgs.exe and msnmsgr.exe ... i have 7.0 running but y does it have 2 then?? i dont have 2 running at the same time...

Hi Evilmaiden, hello everyone

msmsgs.exe is Windows Messenger.

msnmsgr.exe is MSN Messenger.

Are you running Norton AntiVirus?

Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi Evilmaiden, hello everyone,

ccApp.exe is part of Norton.

Try and shutdown Norton 2005 and then restart the computer. Does the problem go away when doing that?

Best Regards,
Mesich

And if you want to remove messenger 4.7 , try doing this >> go to start >>> Run >> enter this

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

click ok and its gone , One thing to remember though if you ever happen to redownload sp2 it will reinstall 4.7 , but just do the samething I just mention above here and its gone again
