Lately when l shut down my computer this message pops up inside a dialog box
( End Program - IEXPLORE.exe Ending Program...Please wait
If you chose to end the program immediately
you will lose any unsaved data. To end the program now, click End Now.) The problem here is the fact that my computer has always shut down properly, usually within 20
seconds. Now l'm confronted with having to
end this program by clicking the End Now botton within this dialog box.I checked out
the Event Properties and noted the following
(EventID:1073 Source:USER32 Type:Warning
Symbolic Name:WARNING_EW_SHUTDOWN_CANCELLED)
The explanation given is as follows...This
event is written when a user or application
attemps, but fails,to restart or shutdown the
computer by using either the graphical user
interface (GUI) or the shutdown command.
Can someone please tell what to do in order to correct this problem when shuting down
my computer. Thanks a million.

Just posted this on your original post.
Have you ran Spybot S&D or Ad-Aware to see if spyware is keeping IE "open"?
If so and there were no issues:
Let's try these:Start - Run - Regedit
Navigate to the following Registry key:
HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Double click on the AutoEndTasks entry and replace the 0 with a 1 in the Value data text boxIn the same registry location, on the right side if the value doesn't already exist add the Dword value: WaitToKillAppTimeout and give it a value of 2000
Then go to H_K_L_M / System / ControlSet001 / Control / and again if it doesn't exist create the Dword WaitToKillServiceTimeout and give it a value of 2000
Then do a Registry Search for both of those DWord values and wherever they appear change the value to 2000
Reboot
