Hello. I have an Abit NF7-S motherboard. This mobo sports an nforce2 with both SATA (Silicon Image 3112 SATARAID) and PATA connectors. Recently I added a SATA drive to it. The problem is that write caching is disabled for the SATA drive. WHen I go into device manage and view the options, it says "Write Cache: Disabled". I was wondering how I can enable it since its a "fixed" (not removable) to gain extra speed.

I have a MAXTOR 250 sata hooked + A maxtor 160 PATA + IDE DVD DRIVE.

It is probably enabled, but some enumeration quirk in Windows may be the reason that it's reflecting the contrary.

First I suggest you actually visit Nvidia's (NOT ABIT) website and download the latest chipset drivers for your NF7-S, install it and check the status of the drive afterwards.

You should also try another ID tool possibly from Maxtor's website that reports this status and cross check with that.
