When I email a photo as an attachment in OE, it not only sends the photo as an attachment that needs to be opened by receiver (i.e., doublelick on attachment), it also sends it below my message as a photo in the email itself. This photo in the email is HUGE. How can I remove/eliminate that photo? Or at least get it down to a small size? I still want the receiver to have a good quality photo and be able to view/use it as necessary without having the big photo in the email. Thanks in advance. Katrinka

I use Netscape Navigator for my mail.
I right click a JPG file,
then do 'Send To',
then click 'Mail Recipient'.
Then another box comes up where I can reduce the
size of the picture for sending. Also click "Show more options" in the lower left side of that box. Then my mail Composer opens, and photo is attached.
Try it out by sending an E-mail to yourself.

In Outlook Express to put the picture directly into the body of the message you have to use the insert command,to sent it as a attachment you must click on the paper clip image for an attacment ? I have never had it automaticially do both with a image. You must be clicking on the insert command along the top of the new message ,try only clicking on the paper clip for attachments ?

Use a photo editing program to reduce the size. As far as the attachment issue, the way the recipient receives it depends on the email client they are using.

Katrinka, Chuck 2's instructions in Response Number 1 is an easy way to solve the problem. Another solution is to use the Free "Image Resizer" Utility which you can read the tutorial and download at the link below.

Depending on what kind of internet connection the receiver of the message has, you might want to drop the size of the photo, as suggested. Irfanview is also a great tool to do this with:
I remember dial-up w/14.4K modem. Having pictures in e-mail was not something I looked forward to...

Thank you, Chuck2, Nick R, Jennifer SUMN, Tufenuf, and T-R-A . . . Thank you so much for all your responses. I am trying out different things, but I AM on dial-up and testing different things takes me forever to send or receive the email, so it's taking me some time. I know I do not use 'insert' in the sending of the photo, I only click on the paperclip. I have gone to the photo, right click, and send email from there, reducing size of photo and that sends it and receives it faster and doesn't makeit so gigantic, but at the end the receiver cannot work with it to make it larger. Or can they? I am still working on checking that out. It seems I have received photos from people that were resized smaller to email faster and I could not enlarge them big enough to see well. I am also sending a photo to my gmail and yahoo email accounts to see if they arrive differently. I use Lightroom photo managing software because it will rename huge amounts of photos (which I deal with daily) without me renaming each photo individually. I just don't want to send photos to customers and have them roll their eyes because I am doing it so unprofessionally. And, as T-R-A says, dial-up and photos are NOT FUN. Will keep you updated . . .
