Hi.
I can't send and receive emails on Windows XP.
My mail server settings are correct due to the fact that i have done this on countless Pc's. We currently run a fairly big wireless network and all the windows xp machines won't send and receive in any application.(cant find the server) but as soon as i connect the Pc's to a lan cable running to the Hub then there's no problem. I can connect to the net no probs but i cant ping any address. Vista has no problems with the same wireless network and works perfect. I have uninstalled drivers, taken off proxy's, reconfigured wireless net works. i have even redone xp on the machines just to have the problem persist an hour later.

Have you done a Port Scan on your WAP?
It sounds like it has ports 25 and 110 are closed.

If you cant ping then it sounds like these WAPs are also routers and are screwing up the routing tables. You may need to change their roles to just Access Points.

Are there two different subnets for the WiFi and the LAN?

We need a hole lot more information. To start give us an IPCONFIG while on the LAN and one while on the WIFi.

You may want to hide the first two octets for security reasons, we just need the network and mask information.

Hi thanks for the reply.

Subnet. standard 255.255.255.0
LAN and Wan Ip's stay the same. When swapping from Wireless to LAN we disable the LAN or wireless to only have one network adapter in place. This is done to control the Ip's address allocated to the Pc's . I also came to the conclusion that it could be the router. But want made me think is that the Vista machines are running fine with the current subnet. All the Vista machines have the same IPconfig as the Xp machines.obviously they all have there own IP's with the same subnet.

The mail ports are 25 and 766. I was wondering if this could not maybe be an update that was installed. But this morning I tested a newly installed xp machine and the problem still persisted..

I will gladly give you all the info you need. i would just like to solve this problem.
