Comment: I have an issue with computing.net forums. My email is listed, although I removed it from mycomputing.net. I have been getting spam lately, and I want to eliminate all possible causes. How can I remove my email address from the forums?

Reply: It's not accessible through clicking on your name. Did you ever post it in plain text on this site? Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Reply: There is something else... I want to eliminate all possible cause How? Once the spammer got you you're forever on their target list. Just change your e-mail address and close the one that's spamming you. i_XpUser

Reply: As Jennifer said, it's not available now, otherwise we'd get it by clicking your name. The system we've had on here over recent years is pretty safe. You have to be a registered member to access the address and spammers engines don't bother with all that. If you put your email address in open text anywhere on the net you risk getting spam which gets worse as the spammers pass data base CD's to each other. If you get spam it's worth considering a new email address. DerekW

Reply: Very simply put, when operating on the Web NEVER use your own personal email address. Use a free one from one host or another. That way if it is harvested, you can change your email address with minimunal impact. Note that mine shows above but you would have a hard time sending email to me.
