as the title states, i have a bad_pool_caller BSOD problem with the 0xC2 type. i know it wasn't any hardware problem but rather software probably because the last few days i have been messing with some memory editors to cheat on this online game.

anyway, now my comp crashes at the welcome screen and i also cannot boot into safe mode either. i have WinXP SP2.

i haven't been able to find any good solutions to the BAD_POOL_CALLER problem itself so i decided to try and do a system restore by recovery console. (i didn't have the xp cd so i burned an iso of the recovery console files and made a bootable cd)

i followed the directions at this site: http://www.2pure.net/index.php?sess...
so i restored my comp back to a few days before i started messing with the game. my comp still BSOD on regular and safe boot

anyone got any good suggestions on how to fix the problem except reformatting my comp?

Actually your subject reads "emachines t6410". My suggestion would be to contact EMachines and request an OS CD. Not much repairing/restoring you can do without it.

A lesson learned I would say.

uh oh, i dont know what happened now but now i can't even attempt to boot anymore!

it says i have a missing/corrupt hal.dll

i looked this up and i tried to copy it over from the recovery console. it still gives me the error after.

question: for a certain version of xp, do you need that specific hal.dll file? so a hal.dll from an SP1 would not work with SP2?
