eMachine running xp wont boot

It was running sloooooow. I tried to repair the registry. Afterward it open up the boot menu/ bios setting window and freezes. Tried power off/on. Put xp disk in. No luck. What's next?

sounds to me like the famous e-machine power supply is going south.
