Comment:

I inherited a Lenovo desktop with W-XP-Home. It appears to already contain one end-user account, "Mike." I wish to edit this account to my name.
However, when I go to Control Panel/User Accounts, I do not see a 'Mike' account. Yet the folder structure shows C:\Documents and Settings\Mike\...
Is it possible to edit this account to my name, and if yes how do I do it?
Many thanks.

Long story short: you can't without reloading the machine under the new name.

Scott and Sabertooth,
Thanks for responding. Technically, you're both right. Upon further examination I discovered that the user account I was trying to edit was that of the former Administrator, Mike.
Using the instructions of the MS link provided by Scott, I was able to chnage the Name of the Admin account from 'Mike' to my name. Nevertheless, the folder name beneath C:\Documents and Settings remained 'Mike'. That's understandable since this is not only the Admin account but the ONLY account on the system.

The directory will stay the same because changing it would break links and dependencies to do with that user profile.

Either create a new user account or deal with it.

All working wonderfully.
