This may seem like the same post you ahve already read over and over again, but I have some different questions (as far as I know).
I just install a HP 7500 Plus (slow burner on my PII system). I am running XP Pro and installed ECDC 5 Palt and the 5.1 patch. My DirectCD does not work, like the hundres of other people out there.
I have seen topics about the 5.1 basic patch, 5.1 plat patch, XP patch, and 5.02d patch. The patch I have and installed is ecdc_v5.1_plt.exe, and my DirectCD does not work. Now, I may not have a problem using the XP version of DirectCD, but that does not work. I can not find any software to enable it. I check the drive's properties, and the box is checked for "allow writting to this drive" but still XP will not write to it.
Now I tried ot find the 5.02d patch, but I get nothing but JavaScript errors when I hit their web site, and nothing loads.
Could someone tell me what the correct patches are that I need and if DCD does not work still, how to get XP to write/delete to the CD as DCD does.
Thanks.

Have you installed the XP_up patch yet??

I installed Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum first, then the XP_up patch and everything worked just fine....

Maybe you need to install that XP_up patch before the 5.1 or the 5.02d one.

I have all those files, so let me know if I can help...

Regards,
Dan

After fighting with Easy CD Creator for several months and trying all the updates (including 5.11) I decided that the best patch for this program is another called Nero.

I installed Nero two days ago after using their demo for almost a month. No problems and it includes "InCD" which is similar to Easy CD Creator Direct CD except that InCD works.

The only thing I don't like about Nero is that when I copy music CD's, I cannot figure out how to automatically put the song names on all the tracks. Someone indicated that you have to type these in one at a time. Hard to imagine it being that out of date but if so, I will either live with it or copy music CD's on my Windows 98 machine and Easy CD Creator.

Well, I would like to try to keep ECDC for now.
Dan, you you please send me those files? I can not find any of those on the web site except the ecdc_v5.1_plt.exe I have already used.
Could you please send me those other two (5.02D and XP_UP) and give me the order to install them in that worked for you? Thanks.

I will try sending you an E-mail.

You have Platinum 5 and you should update to 5.11. On the Roxio site download this file: ecdc_v5.1_plt.exe which you have already done. If you load 5.02 you are going backwards and only confusing your system which it would appear to me is well and truly confused. Elswhere in this forum you have asked about Nero so I assume you have already experimented with it. I have Platinum on my Me system (dual boot) and I have problems with it there with DirectCD. It won't 'write off' to read on another CDRom. Rather than Tweak until something gets wrecked I just use 'session' writing which is accessible in Me and with XP's native burner, and on any CDRom. Problem solved.

The first time I installed XP, I also installed Easy CD Creator. It worked ok, but other apps had problems finding my cd burner, and XP's built in burning feature wouldn't work at all. After reinstalling XP without Easy CD Creator, XP's burn feature works like it's supposed to as well as all my other software that can burn to cd. I use RecordNow MAX for data and MusicMatch Jukebox for audio. While it may work fine for some people, I think Roxio still needs to find a solution that works for everyone who uses XP. Easy CD Creator 5 does work just fine on my Windows Me partition, so at least I didn't completely waste my money on it.

Is it an HP7500i or HP7500e (external) connected to the LPT port? If so, then you need the WinXP_LPT_Driver.exe from HP.
If it is an HP7500i - forget my comment
Bye

What about this XP_UP patch? Is it needed? All I could find is the 5.11 patch fpr Platumn.

And the drive is an internal.
