OK. I have this Dell laptop computer and I was running low on HDD space. I had two HDD partitions. I did the logical thing and merged the two together using Partition magic software. Everything went great. Or so I thought. My son bought a new game to install on the laptop. The CDROM is set to auto detect CDs so when he puts it in, it spins up and gives the error E:\ invalid win 32.exe application. What must I do to fix this. My CDROM is drive E:. I used to have a drive D:, that was the second partition on my HDD, but of course that went away when I merged the two partitions.

Use the RUN command from the START menu, and type SFC /SCANNOW and press enter. That will scan all system files and repair as necessary.

PS. Note the space between C and /
