Hi folks,

I have a DVD-RW drive that has barely been used. I've had a CD sitting in it for a few months and recently I had the need to open it. I pressed the eject button and all it will do is light up and make two 'clicks' separated by a pause. Shortly after, it executes the autorun and loads the game on the CD that is sitting in the drive.

This seems like a strange problem to me. The drive appears to still be perfectly functional but simply won't open/close. What component in the drive could be causing it to malfunction like this? I noticed when I first bought the drive that it seemed to open/close a bit more sluggishly than my regular CD-rom drive. Could that be related?

Mark24, sounds like a mechanical thing with the drive itself. Broken plastic gear?
There's usually a tiny hole on the right of the tray. Insert the end of a paperclip wire and it'll open an intact tray.
HTH.
