I have a pioneer DVD-/+RW which has not given me problems previously, but now, after a small problem (chkdsk was running at every boot), my DVD drive doesn't allow me to open blank CD-Rs or DVD-Rs, displaying: "E:\ is not accesible. Incorrect function". It opens CDs that contain content normally.

A DVD or CD Burner in XP should open any Blanc CD. Open My Computer, right click your Burner, Properties, Recording Tab and see if “Enable recording on this drive” is checked. If not it will give you the message E:\is not accesible.....
