I have two devices connected to my pc - a SONY CDRW and SONY DVD-RW. Both recorded CDs and/or DVDs in the past but now neither shows the Recording tab on the device display and I cannot burn cds or dvds. I have no virus detected by McAfee security software. Any assistance in restoring the deices to their previous state would be appreciated.

Have you downloaded anything (such as a new program) recently that may of interfered with the tab not showing? If so... you may want to uninstall the item(s) and go through your registry to clean up the keys to see if the recording tab returns. Sometimes a new item that is installed will cause issues with other devices.
