DVD-rom not showing up in BIOS

I am having a problem with my new DVD-rom drive. I don't know if it's just b/c it's a cheap little DVD player, or if it's hardware conflicts. But for some reason, my DVD-rom isn't showing up in the BIOS for bootable drives. My CD-RW drive is, but not the DVD-rom. It also isn't showing up when I go to Windows XP's Computer Management (under disk management). Once again, the CD-RW shows up, but not the DVD-rom drive. Could this possibly be a hardware conflict? My DVD-rom drive and CD-RW drive are installed on the same IDE cable, so I dunno if that could cause a problem.
Both drives will show up just fine in Explorer, but for some reason, this DVD-rom drive isn't being recognized in the above...
Any suggestions into what I can do to solve this problem?
you answered your own question... do not put them on the same IDE cable... and well is the cable on the right way? properly? update the firmware of the DVD-Rom...
