ok, my bud just got a new computer, the works, meant for gaming. recently, his dvd-rom drive stopped reading game cds, burnt audio cds and normal music cds. it still reads dvds but only normally for like 5 minutes, then it starts skipping horribly. he had it replaced and it worked fine for two days, but now its doing the same exact thing again. i dont know the manufature of the drive, neither does he, apparently, he had some people build it for him and everything works great except for the drive. and they sent it back to whoever it was that makes it, they said they didnt know what the porblem was and sent him a new one, and yet again, it does this, any advice or insight as to what the problem is?

Hello,
The lasers are out of alignment on the drive. I would suggest you take it back to the people that build the system, and have it replaced with a different one from a different manufacturer.
