Hi all! I have A 1 DVD-rom, 1 CD-Burner, 2x 40G hardrives. The problem is i have been stuffing around with the ribbon cables. First ribbon (IDE1) has two 40g Harddrives Master and Slave. Second ribbon (IDE2) cable DVD-rom & CD-burner Master and Slave. The problem is that everything is working fine except the the DVD-rom & CD-burner, when i put a CD in the DVD-rom is wont Auto start like before it did. I tryed in the command prompt sfc/scannow then it asks for the XP CD and i put the CD in to the DVD drive and it wont recognize the XP CD..... it saying that the XP CD is not in the Drive. Can someone please help me how to fix this problem ....... Thanx.

I think I have the same problem in my earlier Subject: MSI 845 Ultra no CD-ROM or CD-RW data read? Hi, my problem is that my CD-ROM drive AND my CD-RW drive both can't read some types of data. The data types i've tryed were bin files and mpeg's (vcd's) and i persume some more because my drives realy are having a hard time on reading data on any CD. I think it's some kind of conflict with Win XP, because it worked perfectly on Win 98 SE. Does anybody also had this problem or hopefully a solution? My CD-ROM Drive is a Mitsumi 54x. And my CD-RW is a Philips CDRW 800 series. Thanx, Fytos. --- Is this the same problem maybe?
