hello, ive just started getting into creating dvds, but have found it much harder then expected. i have a pioneer dvd-rw and have been using datasafe dvd-r's to make the dvds. but as yet i havent been able to make a dvd that plays in my standalone player. i made the required video and audio folders on the disc (by using different software it did it for me), but have found that not all even play in a normal pc dvd player. any ideas on the reason for this? looked around online and some mentioned bad media, would this be the discs? if so any ideas of a brand of discs that work better? thanks

Are you sure you are finalizing your DVD's? Yes, if it says bad media....that is the disc you are using. In your manual, there should be a list of DVDR discs that are compatable with your unit. Cheaper is not always good.

i have a pioneer 106 dvd writer. I create my own dvd's too. I use pinnacle studio 9 to do all the diting and creating and i burn them onto Bulkpaq dvd-r's at 1 speed. I have been doing this for some time and have found only a few standalone players that will NOT play. I dont know if Bulkpaq is available where you are, but they are meant to be the number 1 disc in Europe so if that includes you then order a pack and have a go. They are cheap too, i pick them up for £13 for 50 delivered to my door.

Make sure you are using the right format. There are + and - dvd's and not all stand-alone players will play both formats. Check which format your player will work with.
