First step- clean both drives.
When did they stop working? Do they try to read the disc? (Light blink) Does windows see both drives? Does BIOS see both drives? Perhaps a chipset issue- look at Comqap website for updates for your computer. Firmwire update is typcially a last resort so try above first.
