I have installed Windows XP pro on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite 1800-911)which came with Windows XP Home Edition preinstalled on it. Initially it worked fine. but lately, when I insert a CDROM into the drive it states that either the CD is corrupted or damaged. I have tried around 25 different CD's which are running prefectly well on the other systems but give an error on my Laptop. Now the catch is that if I insert a DVD in the drive it autoruns and there is no problem in that. but the CD is not recognized. I have already downloaded all the Updates from the Microsoft site but nothing helped as yet. If anyone knows anything please help. Regards Shashank Jindal

oh this is a not a new thing you see http://computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/38316.html http://computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/29123.html i think your drivers got coruopted by a defective CD rom take it back to the store you bought it from yes just like theses guys it may work but is internally shorting out theres beena lot of them comming of the market from china like that now.the burn in test http://www.passmark.com/download/ caught there problem, with out the burn in test i gave theses guys they would of never figured it out..
