I purchased DVD X Copy Platinum from 321 Studios back when it was legal. They lost a court battle that made it illegal for them to sell the application. What DVD X Copy does it allows you to make backups of DVD movies that you own. It also lets you (if you wanted to do something illegal) to copy DVD movies that you have borrowed or rented. If anyone has DVD X Copy here is my question. If I do a clean install and then I want to run my DVD X Copy CD and install the program, will I be able to activate the program so the software will run? 321 Studios has shut down completely. There is only a note posted on their web site. You used to have to get it activated online or over the phone. If the company is shut down how will it activate online? Or is it possible that they made it so it will start up without activation? I don't see how.

James.

Don't know, but DVD shrink and DVD decrypter are still available. Free. Google search.

Hi,

I have DVD X Copy Gold and have reinstalled it several times. Just do the install and when it comes to activate it, choose over the net and it works.

I do think that a some point they will do something to disallow that.

Hi brownie, how about CloneDVD2? It seems that this application is also famous among DVD copiers!
