Help

I just bought a Dvd player for my system, the system is a celeron 1.0 ghz with an Ati 32 mb video card. The problem is that the playback sound when playing a dvd movie sounds disorted, the system came with an ac97 integrated soundcard, I have been told I need to install a plug & play sound card in to hear the sound correctly. Id really hate to purchase a new card, Im thinking why dont they they make these integrated cards compatible, in addition I ran direct x diagnostics on the sound and it came up that the ac97 card didnt support rebuffering.

What I need help with is knowing if thats common, if i need an additional driver, if i need additional sound software or do I have to spend some of my hard earned cash just to get a new sound card.

Thanks to anyone who replys

well, you can try updating your drivers or do the best thing and take you hard earned (extra :) ) cash and get your self a nice sound card. :) how much ram do you have? (dont think that has too much to do with your sound but i am courious)
