DVD RW drive not recognized by XP

Lite On SOHW-1633S is not recognized my computer. I had the drive working a few weeks ago and I reloaded windows and now windows wont recognize it. When i put a disc in it you can hear it spin up, so i know its trying to read the disc and has power. Any suggestions on what to check out? Thanks

Have you installed nero or whichever program you're using for burning? I've had it not recognize the drive until I did that

does your burner come with a drivers cd or maybe you didn't plug the line correctly

I did insall nero and last time it worked and got recognized but now it wont. Ill try to uninstall nero and reinstall and see if that works.
It didnt come with a driver cd and when i checed the web site for LiteOn they said you dont need any with xp. And I haven't touched any cables since I installed it last and it was working.

I have the same problem. Liteon 1633S had been working OK and now isn't! It started by not recognising the media I was using and got worse. I too am running XP Pro and DVD hardware is not recognised. I have tried re-installing Nero (updated to 6.6.0.8). DVD Drive is on IDE as cable select. My HDD is a SATA drive. I have tried changing 1633S to master, reseating all cables, BIOS upgrade and firmware upgrade. Disk spins but OS cannot see the Drive! Help please.
