The label of your DVD ROM doesn't matter at all... What you need is to enable DVD functionality on Windows Media Player (as it is not set to playback DVD files by default) or use any other DVD software... The label of your DVD can be ANYTHING XP wishes it to be (and as far as I am aware you cannot change it as you could do for example with HDD's) wouldn't matter and it certainly wouldn't only make use of your drive's CD-ROM or "Data DVD" capabilities... Some DVD Drives (for example the Retail Version of the Pioneer 105S ATAPI DVD) are labeled "CD Drive" on XP...Others (like the OEM version of the same Drive!!!...) are normally labeled as DVD Drives... Don;t worry about that...There's nothing wrong with your DVD...

I appreciate your comments, firstly, yes I am using Power DVD, secondly, there "must be" something wrong as the drive will not recognise a DVD. It recognises normal data and audio disks, but not dvd's. If there is nothing wrong, why is this the case. Hope you can help.
