Hey everyone. I was given some DVD's as a gift from relatives who live in Holland. These are genuine DVD's but I think are in region 6 or something. I live in Australia so my DVD player will only play region 4 DVD's and my computer will only let me change the region a few times. I have downloaded some programs but they have all been trial versions and only let me watch the first 15Mins of the DVD's. Does anyone know of a free program that lets you play DVD's from different regions? Or a program which will let me burn these DVD's as region 4.. Thanks for any help.

Yeah well it sort of worked... But I just made a shiny coaster. I can play the individual files but it seems like it doesent want to see it as a DVD movie but 4 individual videos.. Still I suppose I just gotta do some figureing out.. Thanks for the program.

Thanks indigian but most of those hacks just lead to free trials anyway, and all the other ones were not for my DVD drive, I think I will just go and buy software from a shop somewhere. Thanks for your help anyhoo.

Look man,
Open dvddecrypter, in the mode menu choose, read iso. send ripped dvd file to your fav folder. Get dvdshrink at mrbass. Open shrink ,from file menu choose open disc image file you made with dvddecypter, let it load up. Double click the main movie, (the file is observable in left pain now) select reauthor, You'll have two tabs on the right side of shrink, ditch the audio tracks by unselecting, also the subtitles you dont wan't. I usually just keep 5.1 audio, and forced subtitles. Cut off end credits for better compression ratio (right click title on left side of shrink), unless you have dual layer capabilities. Anything under 78% is going to look a little cheesey. When you choose save, go thruogh the tabs and select deep analysis if compression is required. Thats about it.
Oh yea, some newer sony dvd's required a clip( using shrink) at the front, makes some dvd players hang with unpleasant audio, or wont progress thru chapters.

Heres what i use, http://www.dvdregionmaster.com/

Yeah, it does start off as a trial version but it lasts for 2 weeks before buying it and it will run the whole DVD with no problems, including the special features.

Hi

check the make/model of your tv dvd player
here:

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

maybe a region code/ function hidden away which enables it to play region free.

My parents baught a cheap "Digitrex" DVD player so the brand isnt listed, But I might snoop around the settings in its menu anyway.

Thanks Oil_Tan I will download dvdshrink and try that, I have got a dual layer DVD burner but it costs $10(AU) for one DVD so I will give that a miss. I have 1 blank DVD left so lets hope this works now.
