Hello all
I have bought a second hand laptop with a DVD-ROM and CD-RW. I live in NZ and the DVD-ROM seems to be stuck on Region 1 (I need Region 4 to play store rented DVDs). I guess the previous owner used up the 5 goes and set the last setting on Region 1.
This is obviously no good to me so I would like to download some Region Free software so that I can play whatever DVDs I want. Most of them you have to pay for or the free ones are only a free trial. I don't want to download anything with spyware so I thought I would ask you guys if you have any recommendations for the most reasonably priced and safest and best quality.
Also, perhaps there's a safe way to get around the DVD Region setting? I have seen some downloads with warnings about voiding warranties and I'm not keen on taking risks with my hardware and again I don't want any spyware so if anybody has any suggestions I would welcome them.
Thanks heaps

Hi Tracey
I have DVD x Player v1.5 and it works flawlessly.
http://www.dvd-x-player.com/I see that there is a new version 3 now available for download on the site.
But just a trial.Krystyna

Hello - thanks for those suggestions. I ended up going to the site John suggested and my particular DVD player wasn't on the list but it showed me what was possible and I was able to find another site that did have my particular DVD player and found a flash that worked.
The flash I used gives you five new chances every time you reboot...
