I have burnt jpg pictures to a cd but my dvd player won't play them properly on the tv. It will play a few and miss a few. Is the problem with the dvd player? I burnt the jpgs on with Windows xp program and also burnt some on with roxio. Any suggestions please?

Not all DVD players will play all media properly. Check the manual on your player.

I have looked at my DVD player manual and it says playable discs include Video CD (VCD) so does that mean I have to use different discs than the CD-R discs I used?

Actually I just noticed it says "in addition, this unit can play ... CD-R or CD-RW that contains audio titles, MP3, WMA or JPEG files. So seems to me it should play them. As I said it does play them but skips some. Do I need special slideshow software or something? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe try making a data CD using just roxio, see if that clears up your problem. I've never had a problem with jpgs on my burnt CD's made with Easy CD Roxio playing on my DVD player. What I did was bought a cdrw and I use that for experimenting with cd burns. Hope that helps.

Try burning the files using a low or lower speed. It doesn't take that much longer in time and the outcome is better.
I got a bad batch of Memorex 40x Music CD-R but if I burn them at 8x they all come out fine. Even with good CDs I burn them at no greater than 24x so that all of my available CD/DVD players can play them. Some say 16x works best.
.jpg files should be burned to CD as a data disk versus VCD (Video CD).
