Hi,
I'm puting this question in XP Froum because I couldnt think of a fitting place to put it otherwise.

I have all the files from a DVD on the hard drive, but I dont know what to do with them. Basically instead of 'ripping' the DVD and converting it to DivX or something, the files are exactly like they were on the DVD itself.

Here's a list of the file types:
IFO
BUP
VOB

I have no idea what to do with them or how to play them- the VOB files play but only on their own its not like a DVD...

If anyone has any ideas on what to do with these files or how to play it like a regular DVD I'd greatly appreciate it...

Thanks,
Larry

IFO=Info files about movie, chapters language, subtitles etc.
BUP=Backup files
VOB=The video files
To play them from your PC you do not need any conversion to other standards, you may get a tool called IFOEDITOR from www.ifoedit.com it´s freeware, install it, open, using the open button in the application, the VIDEO_TS catalog and then point to any of the *.IFO files, you will get textual info and on bottom right a button "DVD PLAYER" just click on it and OK any message to view your movie.
If you want to bring the files back to a DVD just use a tool like Nero and burn your DVD directly, if you want to make the movies fitting one CD or more, then you should use different tools some free some others not.
Hope this helps answering your question.
If not send more info

Wow my reply to you disappeared... strange
Anyhow let me try to do it again.
First if you could copy 1 to 1 the dvd files to the hdd, it means to me that the were not protected, no ripping required then.
Meanings
IFO=Info about Movie, Chapters, Language, Subtitles, etc
BUP=Backup files
VOB=Movie file(s) split normally into 1GB pieces

To see the movie you may download a tool called ifo editor from http://www.ifoedit.com it´s freeware, install and open this editor, then bottom left click on open go to the VIDEO_TS directory, I assume a standard movie, select one of the *.IFO files, bottom right is a button "DVD Player" click on it, OK any following message and see the movie.
This is on my personal opinion the most straightforward way, there are dozens of free tools for viewing DVDs on PC.
Hope this helps, if not, send other details.
Cheers
