Hello everyone, I have a problem with my drive. Sometimes when I turn it on it doesn't detect it, I reboot and it's back again. Any idea why this would happen?

You could go to computer management inside of administrative tools. Next navigate to disk management. Then action to rescan disks and see if it will refresh your cd-rom back into windows. There's also another way to do the same thing using the command line interface explained on one of the microsoft support kb articles.

Do you mean it doesn't show in the POST screens at startup? Did this just start or has it done this since this configuration was setup? Check the listings in the BIOS and reseat the cables. Under some conditions a lone optical drive on an IDE channel can cause that condition. If the drive jumpers are set to CS then try Master/ slave settings or vice versa. Alternatively the drive could be failing.

Thanks for the answers. It hasn't done it again, but it will. I haven't checked if it shows up in post, but it doesn't show up in windows sometimes. I'm going to try your suggestions and hopefully that will help.
