Comment:

I have used both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter to backup some DVD's but when I went to burn the DVD it stops at 41% (for both programs).

This is the error that came up on Decrypter:

I/O Error!

Device: [1:0:0]HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-404ON 1.01 (D:) (ATA)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check condition

CDB: 2A 00 00 0E 68 00 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Write (10) - Sectors 944128 - 944159

Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0E 00 00 00 00 21 02 00 00

Interpretation: Invalide Address For Write
-------------

After several retries, the Decrypter log each time says - Invalide Address For Write.

While the DVD was burning I turned off my screensavers and wasn't using any other applications. I just let it run. But after trying to burn three DVDs, each seemed to freeze at around the 41% completion mark.

Why is this happening and is there a way to fix it?

Thanks,

Orin.

It could be a faulty IDE cable.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

Have you tried getting the latest firmware for your burner. Also just to make sure I understand, you were able to backup to your hard drive but not able to burn after backed up?

Cambece: Yes, that's right. All the files are on my computer but when I try and burn to a DVD-R disc, it doesn't complete the process ...

Sci-guy: I'm not sure what an IDE cable is. My DVD burner is on a laptop. So there aren't two CD/DVD stacks, just the one.

Could be several things, first do you have Nero installed. If so try and burn the files with that.

Second, the back-ups may have gotten corrupted some how or were not done correctly.

Third, the dvd-r media you are using is not of high quality, certain burners are picky to which media they will write to.

Could also be the dvd-rw firmware. Good-Luck, you can also check afterdawn.com they have a great forum for this stuff.
