I myself havent sprung into the dvd writer thing yet but since prices are getting acceptable I suppose it will be soon. My question is since a dvd disk will hold about 4 gigs of data, if you burn data to a dvd disk can you read and transer that data on another computer using a cd drive instead of a dvd player? I am wanting to make a rather large installation cd of all my favorite programs and data and use it with new installations so I need the space of a dvd disk but want to be able to install them using a cd drive. Does dvd work this way?

Every computer you want to use this disk in has to have a DVD drive. You can't use a DVD disk in a standard CD drive.
