my dvd burner is connected through a pci ide controller...i installed it fine..my prob is i cant get nero (any version including the one provided with the drive) to burn a dvd..i can get another program (dvdxcopy) to work but i want to use nero for certain tasks...i did an upgrade to xp from 98se and kept the fat32 file system and this seems to be the only problem...no i havent flashed the bios because thats risky at this point..the dvd burner does show up in the device manager as well...i also get problems using "power dvd"..it freezes and i have to restart windows via the button... and "windvd" doesnt have any sound when playing a dvd...windows media player will play a dvd fine...i just dont get it... any ideas?

ADDITION i also updated my aspi drivers and reinstalled nero...when it gets to the burn part nero frezes...i have to use the restart button to clear my pc...nero does see the drive correctly...

i got it working by putting the burner on the secondary ide controller on the MB and setting it to Master...its now burning..but havent tested yet but it looks fine
