I have purchased an Aopen DUW1608/12X DVD Burner. Problem is I can't get it to work. Slaved it on the primary IDE (80pin cable) Windows saw it but doesn't label it in Win Explorer as a burner just as a cd-rom. The tray won't open. I even tried the emergency pin release. before I return this might there be a fix I have overlooked? I visited Aopen's website and looked for updated firmware and nothing was found after I downloaded it and executed the file to update. Could there be some kind of packing constraint keeping this tray from ejecting?

If there is power, the tray should open. Check if there is light.

I had the LED power ON. The light is on and no it won't open. Guess I'll send it back.
Thanks!

I have a Pioneer and when I first installed it the tray wouldn't open. The drive tray width is the full width of the drive bay. Consequently, the drive's tray was held close by the computer's bay bezel. I removed the bezel and all was fine.
